WHAT THE GUYS ARE UP TO
[02/06/07]

  • The Dreaming - Chris Hall (vocals), Jinxx (guitars), Brent Ashley (bass), and Johnny Haro (drums).
Check out The Dreaming websites at www.myspace.com/thedreaming and www.thedreamingmusic.com.

    - The Dreaming is currently working on an 11 song album called Etched In Blood. 3 songs (Bullet, Dead To Me, and Make It Go Away) have been posted on their myspace site. There were numerous demos songs posted at different times, but all songs on the album have been reworked. See their explanation of the process on their myspace blog. Get ready for The Dreaming!!!

    - The Dreaming just finished up the Congress of Corruption tour with Ill Nino, Godhead, and Ra (all on Cement Shoes Records). I saw The Dreaming at their October show in Nebraska/Iowa. It was an incredible show!!!! They definately held their own against the other bands. Time to be a headliner instead of an opening band!

-Here is a listing of some of the songs (demos) that The Dreaming have done: Bullet In My Brain/Bullet, You Are, Eating Me Alive, Dead To Me, Solo Crucifixion/Crucifixion, Fly Away, Hollowman, Whole, Hole, Disconnected, Puppet, Beautiful, Bleed, Let It Burn, Sticks and Stone, Crawl, Become Like You, Send Me An Angel, Always and Never, Make It Go Away, Send Me An Angel (Real Life cover), Lets Go To Bed (Cure cover), and I'm sure some others I can't think of right now

  • Walter Flakus - If you want to keep current with what Walter is up to, check out his new website www.stabwalt.com.

    - Walter has joined a new project called Chokt. Check out their Chokt myspace site for some songs.

    - Walter can also now be heard nationally on XM Satellite Radio where he is the music director and late afternoon on-air talent for Fred - Channel 44 and Ethel - Channel 47. Walter now plays all the music he and Chris used to listen to in college.

  • Andy Kubiszweski is very busy with numerous projects:

-joined a new project called Affected with Chris Schleyer (Prick, Kidneytheives, Zeromancer) and Garrett Hammond (Prick, Kill Hannah). Check out some sound clips at Affected.

  • Mark Eliopulos - Plays guitar in the band Violent New Breed.
  • Jim Sellers - Opened a natural foods restaurant called Sellers Market.
  • SW EMAIL LIST BACK ONLINE
    [04/26/03]
The SW email list/fanclub is back online! You do not have to do anything and likely should have already received messages from the list. Everything functions as before. Coollist didn't say what the problem was with their servers, so I am still looking into alternative hosts for this email list as I'm not sure how reliable Coollist will be in the future. Also, if for some reason you do not recieve SW list emails for a few days in a row, check the news section of http://www.stabbingwestward.com to see if there are problems with the list.

WALTER FLAKUS JOINING THE CLAY PEOPLE
    [04/17/03]
I recieved an email from Walter letting us in on a new development with him. Here's what Walter had to say:

"I wanted to let you know that I'm diving back into the pool. It's funny that I would end up in Albany. Back in 1994, fellow industrial band, The Clay People, opened a show for us at The Reptile House in Grand Rapids, MI. I remember show very well and I remember hanging with the guys in The Clay People and being showered with demos and t-shirts. They followed a very similar path as Stabbing however remaining slightly darker and heavier. After a one record stint on Mercury, The Clay People hung it up coincidentally, about a year ago. Singer Dan Neet, has spent the past year working with Jason Novak of Acumen Nation on the new Iron Lung Corp. record. Last week it was decided to resurrect The Clay People with myself in tow to help elevate the band to the next level. I've heard the demos and the work has begun. It sounds like we're on course to make a record that has a lot more to do with Ungod than anything else. I find it all very exciting. These guys are good players and write some phat riffs. Has anyone heard the unreleased Headhunter demos with "My X-Plodding Head" and "Broken Kisses"? Talk about riffs!"

    THE DREAMING LIVE
    [04/13/03]
The Dreaming played their show at The Gig in Hollywood, CA to a packed house. Chris said they played very well and were happy to see many familiar faces in the crowd. Disturbed was even there and hung out with the band after the show. Here was the setlist:

      1. Drowning (The Dreaming song, not the SW song)
      2. Save Yourself (SW song)
      3. You Are
      4. Fly Away
      5. Let It Burn
      6. Bleed
      7. So Far Away (SW song)
      8. Crucifixion

A Stabbing Westward Convention. There is an SW fanclub/email list (see 7/26/02 entry below) and we have decided to try and put together an SW convention for SW fans to meet one another. It is tenitively planned for July 25-27, 2003 in Chicago, IL. There are even plans at this convention for fans/musicians to play some live SW covers. Jonathon Nelson, a member of the SW fanclub/email list, has taken the reigns on organizing the convention and made a website for it. Please visit the website for more specific info on the SW convention and to let him know if you plan to attend: www.envent-tech.com/~jnelson/sw.

Not much new to mention on what the guys have been up to.

    • Andy is playing drums for Prick on their current tour. Upcoming shows are March 29th in Chicago at the ABBEY and on April 2nd in Cleveland at the BEACHLAND BALLROOM. Andy also mentioned that the movie 'So You've Downloaded a Demon' is in the final stages of editing. For those who don't know, Andy and Mark worked on the soundtrack for the movie. Furthermore, Andy has been producing some songs for a Cleveland based band called State of Being. He previously remixed some songs for them, so be sure to check out their discography page.

    • The Dreaming has sent off demo songs to record labels and should hear back from interested labels very soon.

    • The Dreaming has been working on some heavy songs lately. Chris mentioned one has a 'Shame' meets 'Falls Apart' feeling to it.

    STABBING WESTWARD IS NO LONGER
I've recieved a few messages lately from fans who were unaware that SW had broken-up... so this is for those who haven't heard yet. Stabbing Westward decided as friends to bring SW to an end on February 9th, 2002 (see band message to fans in the 2/9/02 entry below). Although SW is no longer together, this site will continue to post SW related news, including current projects the members are now involved in (see entries below). We look forward to their future endevors.

    [12/22/02]
As mentioned previously, Andy will be playing drums for PRICK on their upcoming tour. First show is set for December 27th at The Odeon in Cleveland, Ohio. Look for other February and March shows on the East Coast and throughout the Midwest at www.prickmusic.com or www.ticketmaster.com. More PRICK info can also be found at www.digitalnoise.org.

    News about The Dreaming:

First, The Dreaming have been in the studio recording demos songs. They hope to have a demo album completed soon to use for attracting a label.

Second, Chris has recorded a song for The Dreaming with Jon Crosby of VAST. Jon wrote the music and Chris added the lyrics. Chris has been a long time fan of VAST, so he was very excited for this opportunity. The song is very good, and both Jon and Chris hope it makes it on the upcoming album for The Dreaming. One other little fact, there is a direct connection between SW and VAST... Chris Vrenna. He played drums on SW's 1990/1991 demos and was remix producer on VAST's Music for the People album.

And last, Walter and Chris have started to discuss the possibility of Walter collaborating with The Dreaming. Walter has been writting some new material and Chris said it is incredible. Since the Dreaming isn't signed to a label yet, they have complete control over their music and what direction it is to go in. I never realized it, but Walter had an essential role in the development of many popular SW songs including Waking Up Beside You, Shame, Save Yourself, How Can I Hold On, Violent Mood Swings, So Far Away, Drugstore, POMF, and Television.

    [10/19/02]
Andy will be playing drums on some of the tour dates on the up-coming PRICK tour. He did not play on their latest album "The Wreckard", but had played on the first PRICK album some years ago. Check out PRICK's "The Wreckard" at www.prickmusic.com.

Todd Livingston, the writer/director of the movie Andy K is doing the soundtrack for, emailed me and said that the name of HELL.com has been changed to "So You've Downloaded a Demon".

    [8/30/02]
Chris: The latest news is the project Chris is involved with: THE DREAMING! Chris is in THE DREAMING along with Johnny Haro (drums) and Warren Huart (guitar), both previously from Star 69. SW fans might remember Johnny Haro from when he took over on drums when Andy broke his collarbone. Chris and Warren are writing the songs, but there may be a few songs that Chris wrote from just before SW broke up. Brian Carlstrom is also helping with the album. Brian was the engineer on Darkest Days and was Dave Jerden's engineer for over 10 years. THE DREAMING is in an experimental stage, slowely evolving, but at this point it lies closer to older SW than the self titled album and uses drum loops and keyboard filters. No release date has been set. THE DREAMING is very excited with the new sound.

Andy: Currently drumming for Zoe Bonham, daughter of John Bonham (Led Zepplin). Album should be out in the next year. Andy is also working on a soundtrack for a film called Hell.com along with previous SW guitarist Mark Eliopolus. Mark will be playing guitar on some of Andy's tracks. Finally, Andy has produced some songs for a Tulsa, OK band called Ultrafix. Check out their music at www.ultrafix.com.

Walter: A DJ/music director for a radio station in Albany, NY. He also has been producing for some new up-and-coming bands.

Jim: No information at this time.

    NEW SW EMAIL LIST
[7/26/02] Recently, the Darkest Days Stabbing Westward email list has gone offline along with www.darkestdays.com. At this time it is unknown why they went offline and it is not known when or if the email list will go back online again.

So, until the Darkest Days SW email list comes back online, I have started a new Stabbing Westward email list at www.coollist.com. Please goto the 'email list' section of this website for instructions to join the new SW email list.

SW DISBANDS - TO THE FANS
[2/9/02] Stabbing Westward has soul searched and decided as friends that it's time to part. They would like to thank all their fans that have stood by them and loved their music, all their music, very much. They decided a week ago it was time to part and they wanted to live with their decision for a bit before making it official but as some friend told a friend, they feel it's your right to find out from them.

So, from Chris, Andy, Jim and Walter: "Thank you very much for the support and love. We are very sad and as well very excited about all our futures."

As webmaster of this site, I am deeply sadened at this news. But, I believe that we should support SW in their decision and wish them the best. I want to thank Stabbing Westward, Missy (SW's manager), and KOCH for allowing me this opportunity to support such an amazing band in this way. Thank you for the incredible experience of Stabbing Westward. SW's musicical talent will be missed deeply.

    NEW BEHIND-THE-SCENES VIDEO POSTED

NEW ALBUM / TOUR IN 2002
[12/28/01] Although Stabbing Westward is no longer on the KOCH label, this is not the end of SW. In fact, SW is currently working on songs for an album slated for release in 2002! A promotional tour will be planned to accompany the release of the new album.

SW NO LONGER ON KOCH LABEL
[12/28/01] Stabbing Westward and KOCH have mutually agreed to part ways. Things did not work out as well as expected on both sides, so this departure was in the best interest for both parties.

    MISLABELED BONUS CD
If you happened to purchase Stabbing Westward at your local , please read the following: Please note that the type-face on the BONUS disc itself is erroneously credited to: Acoustic versions of "So Far Away" and "Perfect". Due to a manufacturing snafu, the second bonus track is actually an amazing acoustic version of "Wasted" and NOT "Perfect". Stabbing and Koch Entertainment wish to apologize for the mix up and confusion this may have caused. An acoustic version of "Perfect" will be made available on this site in the future.
